Still alive...

Fri Dec 7, 2007, 11:32 AM
Hi everyone...

I just wanted to poke my head in and say I am still here. Sorry for the lack of work. I am working on a large piece right now, but since I am working full time and also have volunteer stuff and graduate school applications to fill out, while still trying to squeeze in sleep and a social life, I have not done as much art as I would like. I am hoping to post more work after Jan or Feb, when my applications are sent off - I am also seriously considering moving out of my current apartment. Someone I know may have space available in a townhouse down the road from where I live. It is just getting too expensive to live on my own...

Just know that I am checking in on you all from time to time, and looking at all of your deviations and journals (I do look at every single one :) ). And of couse I am just a smidge jealous of the time you can put towards your creative outlets :D

My first DA Tag...I must not refuse

Wed Oct 3, 2007, 10:45 AM
I was tagged by :iconjuniperia: D

The rules:
1. Post these rules
2. Each person tagged must post 8 random (hopefully interesting) facts about themselves
3. Tags should write a journal of these facts
4. At the end of the post 8 more bloggers are tagged and named
5. Go to their page and leave a comment telling them they're tagged

1. My fastest time for beating the Expert Level in Minesweeper is 114 seconds

2. I dressed up as a prostitute for a sociology project in college to see how people would react, and got holla'ed at by the football team in the dining hall.

3. I have an awesome bed...a goosedown comforter with an egyptian cotton duvet, and for my birthday my coworker gave me this AWESOME fur blanket (it's fake fur, you animal people ;).

4. I have actually completed the Chocobo-breeding sidequest in FFVII

5. I hate rollercoasters or anything that drops you from real high

6. I love to eat sushi...a lot...

7. I have this weird quirk where I get really really bothered if I have to go back out after eating dinner...but ONLY if I eat something at home, not if I get something out

8. I have been born and raised in Georgia, but people always think I am from the North.

Hello, hope all of you in the US had a good labor day. I have been on vacation the past couple of days. I am still working on art, I just am really really slow...it is so difficult to put in the time it takes to do quality work when you work full time and exercise and what not...anyway, I reached 1000 page views over the weekend! Just wanted to send a thank you to all who visit my page and to those who leave support. Take care!

New Laptop

Sat Jul 14, 2007, 11:23 PM
I have not been a good little Deviant and updating regularly. I miss having my subscription.

My computer had crashed on me in June, so I had to wait to get my laptop. I finally got it last weekend and I love it. Unfortunately, when my computer died, I lost Photoshop 6.0 (I dont have a copy of it), but I was thinking about just getting Open Canvas until I can install PS. It's a pretty decent digital art program and it is only $70 for the newest version (as opposed to the several hundred dollars for Photoshop CS.). I have done a couple of pieces on it ("Estelle" and "Huntress Cat").

Anyway, I am probably going to try and focus on more "traditional" art because I need to build a portfolio. I am thinking about applying for the art education program at GA State, and since I was not an art major in college, I really need to impress the admissions board. I think I would get a lot out of teaching art. I like knowing I am doing something meaningful with my life, and the 2 months off in the summer is appealing. I would like to work with older kids...maybe 8-14...though the thought of dealing with a classroom is a bit intimidating, but I think I can do it. I like to work with various mediums...only thing is that I am not real strong in any 3-d art, and the website for the program recommends having both 2D and 3D art...I need to learn how to do sculptures or something in 4 months. Any ideas??????

Things have been really crazy...this month I have had 2 graduations, 2 birthdays (not including my own), a Cinco de Mayo party, and of course Mother's day. I am really glad that things are back to normal though because I wear out so easily. At least my new laptop will come soon. It will probably be a Lenovo. I really really really want to get CS2, but...that costs almost as much as 1 month's rent!!! Better start saving *sigh*

I am so happy, :iconfantasystock: has featured me for this week in her journal. Ironically, my B-day is next week, so perfect timing. They have great stock and contests, so check them out :D. Although, I have been pretty MIA the past few days, ironically :p. Haven't been doing as much art either ^^;;. Worry not, I will be responding to messages and stuff when I get a chance :).
